Every year, a new set of films are launched but only a few manage to become the highest-grossing movies ever. Recently, the South Indian film industry produced blockbuster films like RRR, KGF 2, Vikram, and many others. There are a couple of Bollywood films that made the cut as well. In this article, we’ll look at some of the highest-grossing Indian films that made it to the top of box office collections.

  • RRR

With a total take of 1,155 crores, Rajamouli’s RRR from 2022 defeated masterpieces like Secret Superstar, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and 2.0, making its place in the list of highest-grossing Indian movies. It earned over 903.68 crores in India, making it the third-highest-grossing movie in India. The movie starred N. T. Rama Rao Jr and Ram Charan as parallel leads. Also, the song Naatu Naatu became a big hit across the globe. M. M. Keeravani composed the song for RRR, which won an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.

  • Pathaan

Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, premiered on January 25, 2023, to a roaring box office response, that turned out to be a historic release for King Khan. In just two weeks, the movie made close to Rs 865 crore at international box offices. John Abraham and Deepika Padukone played the major parts in Siddharth Anand’s “Pathaan,” which also included them as co-stars. Yash’s movie gained cult status in India. K.G.F: Chapter 2 is focused on Rocky’s ascent after seizing control of the Kolar Gold Fields. The film surpassed the total collections of Rajamouli’s RRR to become the second highest-grossing Indian movie of all time.

  • Ponniyin Selvan: 1
